”5 O’Clock Chair” by Nika Zupanc

  • Inspired by the classic English china with pink roses, this chair reflects a love for almost forgotten values & feelings from a noble past. Beech wood and Skai leather create a strong product with a soft surface, combining tradition with innovation.

”Lolita” by Nika Zupanc

  • Who is afraid of pink? My imagination chases female archetypes intentionally. Frivolous, even naive objects are my favorite victims. And when, during such a process, I manage to be creative in an evidently reserved way, I then touch the purest meaning of my work and frivolity becomes timeless elegance. Lolita is here to play with your emotions. She is here to break your everyday routine.

In international press, Nika’s work was described as everything from “punk elegance” (Elle USA) and “Techno chic” (BUSINESSSWEEK), to “larger than life” (CLEAR MAGAZINE) and featured in number of relevant international press such as Wallpaper, Icon, Frame, Financial times, Elle Decor etc.
She graduated with honors from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, in 2000. After working as a freelance designer, Nika Zupanc collaborates  with international companies such as: Moroso and moooi.
She participates in projects of product-design throughout Europe. Nika was the ”revelation” designer of the Fuorisalone with the eclectic installation: the “House of Dolls” on display at Super Studio.

In 2004, the British Council has chosen her for the project Rising Stars of New Europe dedicated to the emerging talents. The next year she was a finalist for the International Young Designer of the Year. From 2005 to 2007 she exhibited her work in major international events of design, from the 100% Design and Designersblock in London, The Young Talent Show in Hong Kong, the Review Gallery at the Center for Architecture and Design, the Lighthouse in Glasgow, up to the Satellite shows in Milan.

”Mrs Dalloway” by Nika Zupanc

  • Who said fashion and cooking doesn’t go hand in hand had better think again. Zupanc designed this mini hot plate for Gorenje, a Slovenian appliance maker. She deliberately styled it after a fashion accessory, and named it Mrs. Dalloway, a reference to a Virginia Woolf novel about a woman’s party preparations.

1.”The Runway lamp” presented in Milan, 2013; designed by Nika Zupanc

  • She designed the Runaway lamp as limited-edition torch to give modern travellers off-grid illumination in an emergency.”This diminutive object breaks the rules of contemporary traveling, bringing back the romance of isolation,” says Zupanc. “In its basic function, a portable lamp now becomes an enchanting companion but also a real saviour in the event of an electricity shortage.”
